In Captivity accepted to student show

In Captivity from the Alien Abduction Project was accepted into the Fall 2007 student show at the Colorado Film School, which was exciting.

I come from a school of philosophy that believes that no project is ever completed, only abandoned. We're not quite ready to let this one go yet...

Rose Remixed

I spent some time this weekend re-cutting Rose and The Final Commute. It was fun -- there were things that bothered me about both projects, but at the time I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong.

I don't know if time in class is starting to pay off, or if I just needed some space from the projects, but it was fairly easy to see what to do to make improvements to both. Granted, I had to work with what I had, and there are wobbly key shots in both projects, but they're closer to being good.

Look in the video link at the top of the page to find them.

Composite Portrait

I've started an amusing project at work. My coworker and I are creating a composite portrait of some of the kids taking summer class. The thing above is our first test -- there are 11 faces, of which you see a composite of five at a time. At no point do you ever see a single individual's "real" face. They're constantly replacing each other so the thing mutates while you watch it. Sorta cool, sorta creepy depending on the mood you're in.

Kaiser Permanente: the Wall Mart of Healthcare

So I got a new job this year, and along with the new employer comes a new HMO.

The old guys bought coverage through a company called United Health Care, who let you see whatever doctor you wanted.

I picked a family practitioner near my favorite hospital.
